A Sculpture of your Pet by Teangi

“Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life” - Confucius

Teangi Chambers is one of the lucky ones. Her work is her love. Teangi has managed to combine her two passions – dogs and sculpture…. and make every day about living a dream. Teangi sculpts and, even more appropriately, Teangi sculpts people’s pets!

Pet Sculpture by Teangi

Teangi started out sculpting animals, with a focus on native Australian animals, but this has evolved into a very unique bespoke project called ‘Sculpt My Pet’. Those with a soft spot in their heart for their pets are commissioning Teangi to create steel sculptures of their fur family members so that they can have a metal ‘caricature’ to keep forever. Teangi works from images and stories about the dog, cat, bird (any pet really!) and loves hearing about their lives, their loves and how they spend their days. She takes the time to really get to know these pets and, even though she doesn’t meet them, they take up a little piece of her heart ~ which is more than welcome and is certainly displayed in her work.

Dog Sculpture by Teangi

Teangi focuses on the pet’s characteristics and personality and shows a little bit about each pet in these pieces. Some of the pets Teangi has sculpted are no longer with their owners so the sculpture provides a nice reminder of a loved fur-baby which usually ends up finding a home in the pet’s favourite place in the garden. Teangi gets a lot of help from her ‘CEO’, her own dog ‘Bart’. He is always on hand to offer some advice or look disapprovingly to the sculpture that is taking her attention away from him. She is also assisted by three chooks who are called her ‘production assistants’. Anytime Teangi tries to take a photo of one of her pieces to share on her website or on Facebook, her chooks manage to always get in shot. They love checking out what she has created and have even given the odd sculpture a peck or two. Great quality assurance and apparently rivets look tasty to a chook!
