Ok, setting the scene here..

Cue the "MasterChef" music, judge Gary Mehigan walks up to my bench with a steely look in his eye,

GM : Greg, this looks interesting, tell me more.

Me : Well Gary, I call this le pettite chien, an Australian canine favourite.

GM : Ah yes, the dog cupcake, many have tried to perfect and failed miserably, are you one of those Greg?

Me : No Gary, I am quite confident that these have hit the mark.

GM : So Greg, tell me more about the process, was it difficult?

Me : Not at all Gary, most of the ingredients are sourced from my supplier in Brisbane who conveniently packs it all up for me in a small post friendly box. All I have to do is add a couple of eggs, some honey, water, and a bit of love.

GM : Hmmn Interesting, but as they say, the proof is in the pudding! Shall we perform the lab test?

(At this point I am both excited and scared, In trots Zoe the black labrador, Australia's most famous canine connisseur. I mean, this dog has one of the most diverse pallets known. You name it she's tasted it, from fish fingers and baby food as a young pup to the more refined adult taste for rooster poo and bedding foam. This dog knows her stuff!)

GM : Zoe, welcome to MasterChef, Its such an honour to have you here tonight

ZOE : Rraanks Raarrry! (having grown up with Scooby Doo as a kid, this is how I imagine all dogs talk)

GM : Zoe, before us we have Greg's le petite chien for you to try this evening, all ingredients are dog friendly and contain none of those nasty preservatives you find in most dog treats. Please tell us what you think?

(Now I am really nervous, Zoe cocks her head, gives me a look, takes a sniff and follows her nose to the tasting plate. Her tail is yet to wag and I am thinking OMG, what if she moves on and heads straight for the pantry, but then an amazing thing happens, she chows down and doesn't stop!)

GM : Well that says it all doesn't it, Congratulations Greg! your are the canine MasterChef!!!

Now cue the chants of Greg! Greg! Greg!......

Ok, back to reality now,

Sweet Chops Cupcake Kits

In my previous review of Sweet Chops offerings (you can read it here) we lab tested the terrier tarts and lollipups with great success. In my second review today I going to show you the Chompin' Chocolate DIY cupcake kit. This kit is also available in three other varieties such as, Barkin Banana, Peanut Butter Pups and Waggin Tail White Choc Chip.

The kit was posted out to me in a  satchel bag that contained a box roughly the size of a grapefruit wrapped safely in bubble wrap. Most of the ingredients required to make the cupcakes are packed in the kit for you. These are, the ingredient mix, yoghurt buds to make icing, bone cookies for decoration, and 24 mini cupcake cases. The only  extra ingredients required that's not inclued is a couple of eggs, honey and water.

If your not a "MasterChef" like me (joking) don't worry, these cupcakes are so simple to make. Young kids will also enjoy being able to make these as well with little assistance and it's great way to get them active in the kitchen. Preparation takes roughly 10 minutes and allow a further 15 minutes for the cupcakes to cook. Once they have cooled down, its then just a matter of slowly melting the yoghurt buds for icing and placing the cookie bones to decorate. The mix makes enough for 24 dog bite size cupcakes that can be stored for a week or frozen up to three months.

The Lab Test

Definetly Chompin! As you can see in the pictures below I nearly lost a couple of fingers in the process. The size of these cupcakes are perfect for a daily treat and big enough to satisfy any size breed at your next puppy party.
